Top Romantic Experiences in Victoria Falls for Couples
There is a romance to Africa; nobody who has travelled our continent extensively can deny it. David Livingstone felt it in 1855, standing where the Zambezi drops away into thunder. Scenes this lovely, he wrote, “must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight.”
More than a century and a half later, Victoria Falls and the river still have that effect on people. Whether you’re celebrating a honeymoon, an anniversary or simply taking time away together, Victoria Falls packages appeal to couples because of their variety.
You can spend one day exploring from the sky (or a high wire) and the next unwinding at our hotel beside the Zambezi.
Here are some of our favourite ways couples can experience romantic aspects of Victoria Falls together.
A Room With A View
A memorable stay starts with where you wake up.
Palm River Hotel’s two Honeymoon Suites are designed for couples, with four-poster king-size beds, freestanding bathtubs, double showers and private balconies overlooking the Zambezi and Zambezi National Park. The hanging daybed on each veranda is a guest favourite, especially at sunset.
For more space and privacy, the Palm River Villa combines an Executive Suite, Honeymoon Suite and Deluxe Twin Room around a shared lounge, kitchen, private garden and swimming pool. It’s ideal for couples travelling with friends or family, or for those who simply want more room to relax.
A Morning at the Spa
A relaxed morning at our spa is one of the ways we recommend you settle into your stay, signaling to your body that it’s okay to relax into “vacation mode”.
Choose from a menu of aromatherapy massages, deep tissue treatments and beauty therapies, for him and her, all enjoyed with views across the river.
Many couples follow a treatment with a leisurely nap and lunch before heading out for the afternoon.
High Tea on the Zambezi
One of the quieter highlights included in our Victoria Falls packages is daily High Tea, served on the riverside lawns beneath indigenous trees.
Enjoy artisanal teas or hibiscus prosecco alongside pastries, finger sandwiches, scones and sweet treats while overlooking the Zambezi.

The Falls from Above
Seeing Victoria Falls from the air will give you insight into David Livingstone’s words quoted above.
The 25-minute Flight of Angels helicopter experience provides sweeping views of the Falls, Batoka Gorge and the Zambezi. During the high-water season, particularly in June and July, the scale of the Falls is especially impressive.
It’s one of the defining experiences included in many Victoria Falls packages and can be arranged through our reception team.
Sunset on the Zambezi
The Ra-Ikane sunset cruise is, in our opinion, one of the most romantic ways to spend an evening together in Victoria Falls. The best part? The starting point for this experience is on our property, by the river jetty across the lawns.
Over the course of two hours, you’ll cruise the islands above the Falls while wildlife gathers along the riverbanks. Hippos, elephants, crocodiles and birdlife are regular sightings, while drinks are served on board as the sun sets.
Timeless, effortless romance.
Dinner Under the Stars
Our Zambezi River Deck Experience offers an evening on the banks of the Zambezi, accompanied by firelight, lantern light and the most romantic light of all – starlight!
Set on a gorgeous, custom-built wooden deck near the Ra-Ikane jetty, dinner includes a three-course African barbecue, a welcome drink and live local entertainment beneath the open sky. If you’re lucky, you’ll also see wildlife across on the opposite bank, and you’ll certainly hear pods of hippos as they wind down for the evening.
Beyond the River
If you’d like to see more of the region, there are plenty of worthwhile day trips to include in your itinerary.
An early morning guided walk through the Victoria Falls rainforest offers a quieter way to experience Mosi-oa-Tunya before the crowds arrive. For a special evening, dinner at the Lookout Café combines excellent food with dramatic views across Batoka Gorge.
Our reception team can also arrange day trips to Chobe National Park in Botswana or Hwange National Park, adding a safari experience to your stay.
